DG, CRPF reviews security situation in Kashmir

Director General of CRPF K Durga Prasad reviewed the security situation in unrest-hit Kashmir during a two-day visit to the valley.

Prasad, who arrived here yesterday, visited Qazigund in south, Sopore in north and Srinagar in central Kashmir, a CRPF spokesman said today.

During his visit, the DG, CRPF reviewed the security situation in the valley and also boosted the morale of the troops deployed there.

"Besides addressing a Sainik Sammelan in Srinagar, Prasad visited Sopore in north Kashmir where he took stock of the ground situation and interacted with CRPF officers and personnel," the spokesman said.

The DG, CRPF also visited Qazigund where he reviewed the security scenario of south Kashmir.
 

"To boost the morale of the troops, the DG specifically chose the Christmas day to be with the jawans. At Qazigund, he appreciated the role of the CRPF QAT which performed very well during the last few encounters in south Kashmir," the spokesman said.

Prasad directed the CRPF personnel to uphold the human values while performing their duties with complete dedication, he added.

During the visit, he also presented DG's Commendation Discs to several personnel who performed exceedingly well on the operational front.
