The detail report over the incident is being prepared by the police which will be sent to the proper quarter soon, G P Behera, DSP informed reporters here today.

The DGP's decision seeking detail report from the Kandahamal SP came in the wake of a National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) notice to the state police authorities.

Job aspirants from different districts had come here for certificate verification. A local tribal body headed by Lambodar Kanhar, however, opposed the people from other districts.

They allegedly torn their certificates and beat them on the streets. Though police was present at the spot, nobody prevented Kanhar's group, it was alleged.

Hearing a petition filed by India Media Center of Charitable Trust, Pipili in Puri district, NHRC asked both the DGP and Chief Secretary to submit reports within four weeks.

At least 2,259 applicants including 753 from Kandhmal were asked to appear in the certificate verification for the post of SS in three centers in Phulbani town.

Three FIRs were lodged against Kanhar and others at Phulbani Town police station following which Lambodar and a youth were arrested and forwarded to judicial custody for two weeks and later granted bail.
