DGP visits Ladakh, assures adequate funds for housing, training of policemen

Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbag Singh on Sunday visited various police establishments in Ladakh region and assured all possible support including funds for procurement of vehicles besides housing and training of the personnel particularly special police officers.

The police chief also visited forward areas including Neoma Fukste and Demchok bordering China to meet the policemen deployed there, a police spokesperson said.

Earlier, he said the DGP flagged off the second batch of Ladakh Marathon at police martyrs memoral chowk in Leh town and complimented the organisers for the event.

Addressing a meeting of the locals of Leh, he said the police chief complimented the district police for conducting different assignments particularly ensuring peaceful conduct of various elections and making arrangements for VIP visits with efficiency.

 

While appreciating their work, he said police headquarters would provide all possible support like vehicles and necessary funds for housing and training of the personnel particularly SPOs.

"SPOs are important members of the Jammu and Kashmir Police force and all help will be provided to upgrade their skills in different fields," the spokesman said quoting DGP's address to the meeting.

He said the DGP also inaugurated a dinning hall in the district police lines, visited the police post housing colony and inspected various sections including the Police control Room in its premises.

The in-charge of the post briefed the DGP about the crime rate and working of the post, the spokesperson said, adding Singh directed the SSP to take up the repair and renovation of the structures in the premises and assured that sufficient funds will be made available to the district.

On Saturday, the DGP visited Kargil district of Ladakh and held meetings with civil society, counsellors and also interacted with the police officers and Jawans.

Later, the DGP reached Leh and had a meeting with the Chief Executive Counsellor of Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council, Gyal P Wangyal, and other Counsellors.
