Dharna by forest college students enters eighth day

The dharna by students of Forest College and Research Institute (FCRI) here, pressing their demands including 100 per cent reservation in appointments for the post of forest ranger, entered eighth day today.

Around 160 students of the college are on the protest near the main entrance since July 23, also demanding announcement of results of tests for the post of rangers, prompting the authorities to close the institution indefinitely, police said.

College Dean Durairasu today gave an ultimatum to the studets to end their stir by this evening or face police intervention, they said.

The college, affiliated to Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) was closed indefinitely on July 23,following the strike and students were asked to vacate the hostels.
