Prof Vijaykumar Laxmikantrao Dharurkar today charge as the new Vice-Chancellor of the Tripura Central University.
"We will do everything to increase the pride of this university and turn it into a centre of excellence for higher education. I am confident Tripura University will lead entire Northeastern India in higher education," Dharukar said after taking charge.
The new vice-chancellor hoped that Tripura University will become a model university and would contribute to socio-economic and cultural development in eastern India.
"There is a slogan - Look East but we have to Act East ... I have decided to conduct research on tribals problems to alleviate their lives and to fulfil their dreams, aspirations for contribution in nation building," he said.
Professor Dharurkar was earlier the head of the department of Journalism and Mass Communication at Marathwada University.
