faction of insurgent outfit Dima Halam Daogah(DHD-J) disbanded today as part of its tripartite memorandum of settlement (MoS) signed with the state and the Centre.
Announcing the disbanding, Garlosa, who is the outfit's chairman, said the step was taken in deference to the peace accord signed on October 8 and DHD-J would now be known as Ex-DHD Welafe Society.
As per the provisions of the peace accord DHD-J has to dissolve itself within six months from the signing.
He appealed to the people to maintain peace for development of Dima Hasao district.
Garlosa said 100 cadres of the outfit had been absorbed in Assam police and 200 others would be trained in entrepreneurship for their rehabilitation.
People from Dimasa community along with those from other ethnic and non-tribal communities had attended the public meeting of the outfit here yesterday which was addressed by its 'commander-in-chief' Niranjan Hojai, 'deputy c-in-c' Daniel Dimasa, vice-president Phaiphrang Dimasa and 'home secretary' David Dimasa.
DHD-J was formed after it broke away from its parent Dimasa National Security Force(DNSF) when it ceased to exist in 1995.
Garlosa, then DNSF commander-in-chief, had launched DHD(J), also known as Black Widow, demanding 'Dimasaland' in North Cahcar Hills now called Dima Hasao district.
DHD(J) targetted politicians, non-local residents, central government employees and other tribes involving itself in kidnappings, arson attacks, ambushes and bombings.
'Black Widow' was declared a banned outfit by the Centre on July 2, 2009 and the outfit surrendered at a function here.
The other faction headed by Pranab Nunisa was formed on June 24, 2004.
