The Pranab Nunisa faction of the underground Dima Halam Daogah in Assam will be formally disbanded on March 9 in line with the stipulation of the Memorandum of Settlement signed with the Centre last year.

Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde, Governor J B Patnaik and Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi have been invited to the ceremony to be held to disband the militant unit at the District Sports Association's ground.

Dima Halam Daogah (N) chairman Dilip Nunisa has appealed the people of the district to welcome DHD members as responsible members of society to lead a peaceful life.

Nunisa had taken over the outfit after ousting its 'commander-in-chief' Jewel Gorlosa on June 24, 2004.

Refusing to surrender, Gorlosa had launched the DHD (J) also known as Black Widow in 1996 to create 'Dimasaland' for the ethnic Dimasas in North Cachar Hills now called Dima Hasao district, after the Dimasa National Security Force ceased operations.

Nunisa signed a MoS with the Centre last year which stipulated that it has to be disbanded within six months.
