Singh had recently expressed his desire to retire from politics, therefore people should fulfil his wish by ensuring his defeat in assembly polls, Dhumal said while launching the campaign of Ishwar Rohal BJP candidate from Shimla (Rural).

Rohal is pitted against Singh, who was recently announced as Congress candidate from the assembly segment.

Singh has been speaking blatant lies and making false allegations on state government, he said adding, the BJP government has checked commercialisation of education prevalent during previous Congress regime.

During Congress tenure admissions to various universities outside the state were made by its agents, who cheated poor families by charging exorbitant fees and other expenses, he said.

All the private universities which have opened in BJP regime have fulfilled prescribed norms of UGC and Regulatory Commission keeps strict vigil over their activities to ensure that no hidden charges are claimed from students, the CM said.

Dhumal also attacked the Congress led UPA government on issues of alleged corruption, price hike of essential commodities and unemployment.
