"The people of the country were already reeling under the killing effect of inflation and the latest decision of the UPA government would further compound their miseries," Dhumal told reporters here.
Dhumal said that the hike was bound to have a cascading impact on prices of all other commodities including agricultural products, manufacturing, service sector, freights and transport.
Meanwhile, the BJP workers staged a protest demonstration in front of the office of the deputy commissioner to protest against the Centre's decision and asked the UPA government to roll back the prices.
