World's largest spirits maker Diageo on Monday announced the opening of a new business services centre in Bengaluru, which will start operations in October next year and employ around 1,000 people by the end of 2017.
To be known as Diageo Business Services India (DBSI), it will initially build a global finance and accounting footprint, Diageo said in a statement.
The centre, which will be located at the Karle Town Special Economic Zone, will start operations on October 17, 2016, it added.
DBSI will focus on the fields of finance and accounting, and plans to move fast into other areas such as business intelligence, analytics and data services among others, the company said.
"The centre is expected to employ around 1,000 people by the end of 2017," it added.

Commenting on the plans, DBSI Managing Director Tracey Barnes said: "At Diageo, culture, diversity and inclusion are integral to our ways of working. We believe that our organisation should fully reflect the communities we work in and serve. This is particularly important in Bangalore, where we are creating so many opportunities for great talent and aiming for an equal balance of female and male employees."
The centre has already started recruitment and reached the first hiring landmark of 100 employees.
Currently, DBSI is operating from an incubation centre at Karle Town ahead of moving to a purpose built, state of the art permanent facility in the same centre, before the end of the calendar year, the company added.
