Noting that youth are going to take India and Australia forward, Australian High Commissioner Patrick Suckling today stressed on the need to have effective dialogue between the young generation of the two countries to foster strong partnership.
"I think that youth are going to take forward the two countries in the near future. There is an increasing number of Indian youth who are going to Australia to study while a large number of Australian youth are also coming to India. Formal and effective dialogue between the youth of the two countries is necessary to foster strong partnership between the two countries," Suckling said.
"The relationship saw a bad patch sometime back, but I feel that things are only going upwards from here," he said.

The High Commissioner said India can utilise Australian resources to fuel its growing energy needs to keep pace with its growth aspirations while Australia wants Indian investment for its development.
"This sort of economic cooperation can be a win-win situation for both the countries," he said at the launch of 'Australia-India Institute (AII)-Australia India Youth Dialogue (AIYD) Partnership' and AIYD's annual report for 2013. AII Director Prof Amitabh Mattoo was also present during the event.
Suckling appreciated the efforts made by AIYD and AII in helping the two countries understand each other.
While AIYD is a platform for young leaders to come together to discuss issues within the bilateral relationship between the two countries, the AII -- Australia's leading centre for the study of India -- was established with the support from the Australian government.
