A courier was caught today by railway police for allegedly evading octroi on diamonds and gold jewellery worth Rs 1.02 crore, police said here.

Kaushal Tiwari, employed with a private diamond trading company located at Opera House in South Mumbai, was held after he returned from Surat and alighted at Mumbai Central railway station, they said.

Tiwari had bought the valuables from Surat in order to deliver them to a private firm in Hyderabad, police said.
