A diamond encrusted footwear, worthy of a modern day Cinderella, has sold for a whopping USD 500,000, making it one of the world's most expensive shoes.

Auckland footwear queen Kathryn Wilson teamed up with Sarah Hutchings of Orsini Fine Jewellery to create the diamond encrusted high-heel, 'Stuff.Co.Nz' reported.

Hutchings painstakingly placed more than half a million dollars worth of white diamonds on to a single classic court-heeled shoe to create a one-off work of art.

The shoe was sold at an auction organised by Wilson to raise money and awareness for Ronald McDonald House.

The single classic court-heeled shoe features more than half a million dollars' worth of white diamonds to make it a one-of-a-kind work of art.

The process of developing the shoes involved hours of surgeon-like precision using tweezers and a special adhesive.

"Like most women, I have a lifelong love of shoes. Creating a dream shoe appeals to the princess inside me and, I'm sure, most girls out there," Hutchings told 'BornRich.Com', a luxury items website.

Though the one-off shoe can't be worn in Cindrella style, but as Wilson says, "that's what fairytales are all about."
