About 27 persons, including children, of Bagbera locality here have been hospitalised with symptoms of diarrhoea.

While 23 persons were admitted to Sadar Hospital in the city yesterday, four more cases of diarrhoea were received today, East Singhbhum District Civil Surgeon Vibha Saran said.

All precautionary measures have been taken to prevent the spread of the disease suspected to have been caused by contaminated water fetched from a well and nullah near the Kharkhai river in Bagbera, she said.

Apart from distribution of medicines, she said, a medical team was camping to monitor the situation while a mobile medical van was kept ready to meet any eventuality.

All the patients were out of danger, she said.
