'Digi Dhan Mela' to be held at Thiruvananthapuram tomorrow

: The Union Ministry of Information of Information Technology will organise a "Digi Dhan Mela" here tomorrow to create awareness on various digital payment options.

Union Minister for Civil Aviation, Ashok Gajapathy Raju and Minister of State for External Affairs, M J Akbar, will jointly inaugurate the Mela at Tagore Theatre.

The mela is being organised in association with the Kerala State Electronics and IT department.

Thiruvananthapuram is one among the selected 100 cities in the country to conduct the event.

The event, which will be open from 9 am to 6 pm, aims at familiarising various digital payment systems including mobile wallets to the citizens through real time transactions, a government press release said.
 

Assistance will be given to citizens and vendors on digital payments.

Help desks for opening bank accounts and Aadhar enrolment would also be set up at the event, it said.

The 'DigiDhan Abhiyan' aims to cover 2 lakh common service centres (CSCs) across rural areas and enable them to become digital financial education centres.

The CSCs will train people in various digital financial solutions and enable them to use various modes of electronic payment systems (EPS).

The campaign also aims to sensitise merchants and vendors on the use of EPS.
