Visual effects studio Digital Domain today announced the official opening of a studio here.

India is the latest in a string of new locations for Digital Domain, including recent openings in Beijing and Hong Kong. Hyderabad marks the tenth location for the global studio, it said in a statement.

Digital Domain India is located on Hyderabad's IT/ITES special economic zone campus, where it joins other brands, including Apple, Microsoft, Facebook and Google.

Sudhir Reddy is appointed as the head of Digital Studio here.

Earlier, Reddy worked closely with Digital Domain's North American teams as an extension of his leadership role at Reliance MediaWorks, the statement said.

Venkatesh Roddam, who was the CEO of Reliance MediaWorks, joined as senior strategic advisor for Digital Domain, it said.

"The world class infrastructure and start-up ecosystem in Hyderabad make it an extremely desirable location for innovative companies like Digital Domain," said Daniel Seah, the Global CEO of Digital Domain.

"Combined with the recent projections for smart phone growth and mobile bandwidth expansion in the region, the people of India are primed to demand and expect premium content, and we are ready to deliver on that need," he said.

"India is, and will continue to be, an integral part of Digital Domain's global expansion plans, as we foresee the region to be a leading consumer of premium content," Digital Domain's COO Amit Chopra said.

"The escalating demand for premium film and digital experiences in India combined with a highly skilled local talent pool and Digital Domain's prowess in the visual effects and the interactive content space will prove unstoppable," Chopra said.
