Senior Congress leader Digvijay Singh has demanded that Madhya Pradesh minister Lal Singh Arya, who is accused of being involved in the killing of Congress MLA Makhanlal Jatav, be sacked from the Cabinet.

The All India Congress Committee General Secretary has penned a letter to Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and demanded that Arya be sacked immediately.

Arya holds the portfolio of general administration department (GAD).

"A non-bailable warrant under sections 302 (murder) and 120 (criminal conspiracy) of the IPC has been issued against Arya. So, I urge you to sack Arya from the state Cabinet immediately," he said.

On May 19, a special court in Bhind had issued an arrest warrant against Arya in the 2009 murder case of Jatav, but stayed its execution till June 3.

However, the court had stayed the warrant against Arya shortly after issuing it, on a plea made by the minister's counsel soon after the issuance of warrant.
