Congress general secretary Digvijay Singh has sought an explanation from Assam Health and Education Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on the role of a private news television channel here against the party.
He sought Sarma's explanation in a letter sent to the minister, said Bharat Narah, press adviser to Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi in a release here today.
The private news television channel is owned by Sarma's wife.

There have been rumours and media reports about an alleged revolt in Congress legislature party against Gogoi and a six-member core committee has been formed by the party to resolve the issue.
The committee, including ministers Rockybul Hussain and Pradyut Bordoloi, MLA Rana Goswami, parliamentary secretary Bhupen Borah, Bharat Narah and party leader Ripun Bora, will meet to settle the issue, Assam PCC sources said.
A signature campaign was launched during the day among Congress legislators in support of Gogoi following reports of a meeting by about 25 MLAs and their supporters at a senior legislator's residence here last night against the chief minister's alleged autocratic and vindictive style of functioning and sidelining them in the government.
The 25 MLAs have, however, denied that last night's meeting was against Gogoi and told the media that their gathering at the legislator's residence was part of their regular practice.
