The US-based full-service restaurant major DineEquity Inc is aiming to open 20 IHOP restaurants across India by 2025 as part of its international expansion plans.

The company currently has over 1,700 IHOP restaurants across 12 countries.

"We plan to open 20 outlets by 2025 in India. The approximate cost of opening each restaurant is around Rs 3.5 crore which does not include the real estate cost," DineEquity Inc Vice President International Gary Moore told PTI.

He was speaking on the occasion of opening of the first of the twenty restaurants in Gurugram.

"The ongoing growth of IHOP and the introduction of this world-famous dining experience in India, this is a proud moment for us", Moore said.

The company had last year signed a multi-unit franchise agreement with Kwal's Group subsidiary Kwal's Catering Pvt Ltd to bring IHOP to India.

"We look forward to bringing this unique experience to the guests of our first India restaurant, and the many others to come throughout the country," Kwal's Group MD Sameer Lamba said.

The locations that the company is considering for future expansion include Delhi, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Pune and Kochi, among others.
