DJ Diplo has revealed Major Lazer are set to release new music early next year.

The 37-year-old American DJ - who makes up one third of the electronic trio, also comprised of Jillionaire and Walshy Fire - shared with his 1.9 million followers that they will be dropping new tunes after sharing a preview of an unreleased song featuring rapper PartyNextDoor on Snapchat, reported Contactmusic.

Diplo - whose real name is Thomas Wesley Pentz - wrote on Twitter, "New major lazer comes out in January. (sic)"

Following Diplo's tweet, he has announced dates for a solo tour in Australia and has teased that there will be four new songs from the "Lean On" hitmakers.

"I haven't done any solo shows in Australia in venues for like eight years because I've only been playing the festival circuit so I wanna come back and do more of a club show.

"I've got some new Major Lazer records coming out at the top of the year... An Afrobeat record we did, some hip hop songs I've done, about four tracks, and some club stuff. Doing everything.
