General Officer Commanding-in-Chief (GOC-in-C) of Northern Command Lt Gen D S Hooda today assured assistance from the Army to Rajya Sainik Board in reaching out to ex-servicemen in remote areas for computerisation process of data bank of the veterans and war widows.
Director of Rajya Sainik Board (RSB), Brig (Retd) Harcharan Singh today met the Army Commander, who is also Vice President of RSB, and briefed him about the activities of the board, a defence spokesman said.
The General was informed that after taking over the duties of Director, Singh had briefed the Governor and Principal Secretary Home (J&K) about various activities of Rajya Sainik Board (J&K).

The Director also met the Defence Pension Dispersing Officer (DPDO) in Udhampur, Shukal Chopra and discussed issues related to pension of the veterans and war widows/widows, he said.
Army Commander was informed about positive response from the officials of Ministry of Defence, State Government and the Army.
"The Army Commander appreciated the close liaison and jointmanship of all agencies while working for welfare of Ex-servicemen and their wards and widows," he said.
He said the director informed that on priority software was being developed to help computerise the data bank of ex-servicemen (ESM).
"Army Commander assured assistance from the Army for reaching out to the ESM in remote areas for speedy executions of the computerise process of data bank of the veterans and war widows," he said.
He said the director has briefed on priority of work on checking of correctness of pension being drawn by the veterans. Ex-servicemen (ESM) Cell website of Army HQ will also use the online data.
