Directors of two Haryana-based distilleries have been booked in connection with a case of smuggling of liquor, which was meant for distribution during Panchayat polls in Uttar Pradesh.
During questioning of four persons arrested on Thursday with 350 cartons of liquor, police came to know that the liquor was smugged from Haryana in collusion with the directors of the distilleries, District Excise Officer Kurendra Singh said.
Naresh Kumar and M Barua of Ideal Distillery and S K Singhal and Sudesh Kumar Mittal of Rock and Steam distillery have been booked under relevant sections of the IPC and the Excise Act, Singh said.

No arrest has been made in this connection, the District Excise Officer said.
The Excise department had on Thursday seized 350 cartons of illegal liquor worth Rs 15 lakh in the district and arrested four persons.
The smuggled liquor was seized from a closed paper mill compound near Rohana in the district in a raid led by Inspector Himmat Singh.
