The Chief Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities (CCPD) has asked the Railway Board to look into the alleged manhandling of visually-impaired students by a security guard on a Howrah-bound train.
The Commissioner has taken cognisance of a media report on February 7 about allegations of rough treatment of some visually-challenged students of National Institute for Visually Handicapped (NIVH), Dehradun, by a security guard in the Dehradun-Howrah Express train.
"When the train reached Haridwar, a man in a police uniform boarded the train and asked them to deboard the train. When the students requested that they be allowed to complete the journey, the man beat them up," CCPD said in a letter to Railway Board.
