A man arrested for issuing Aadhar cards on the basis of forged documents committed suicide inside the lock-up of a police station here, police said today.

Poonam Dantani (28) hanged himself using a bedsheet from the ventilation window of toilet at the lock-up of Gujarat University Police Station, said ACP A K Parmar.

"Dantani, who was physically disabled, was arrested the day before yesterday with two others for using forged documents to make Aadhar cards at an approved Aadhar Card agency where he worked," Parmar told PTI.

"Last night he went to the toilet and hanged himself. It came to light early this morning," Parmar said, adding that further probe was underway.

Police had registered the FIR against him and others under section 465 (forgery) of IPC after he was found to have issued Aadhar cards to some Nepali nationals using forged documents, Parmar added.
