Congress today expressed disappointment over responses of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Rajnath Singh in Parliament in the wake of the suicide of a farmer in the capital.

Party spokesman RPN Singh told reporters that neither the Prime Minister nor the Home Minister touched the basic issues of the agrarian crisis while claiming that some 2000 farmers have committed suicide all over the country in the past over a month.

He wanted the government to immediately withdraw the Land Acquisition Ordinance.

The crisis is being aggravated by the failure of the government to announce minimum support price for farm produce which could be beneficial to the farmer, he alleged.

Singh also faulted the Home Minister for not announcing a judicial inquiry into the suicide by the farmer during a rally by Aam Aadmi Party yesterday, which has seen the Arvind Kejriwal-led AAP and the Delhi police coming out with a different version.
