Senior Congress leader Digvijay Singh today appealed to party workers to not get "demoralised" due to pre-poll surveys, saying that they should be discarded as trash.

"Don't get demoralised due to the surveys. They should be thrown into dustbin," Digvijay told party workers at Margao.

The AICC general secretary is on a two-day visit to the coastal state ahead of Parliamentary elections.

"In year 2004, the (pre-election) surveys gave them (NDA) an upper hand. It showed India was shining, but we won with majority. Similarly, ahead of 2009 polls the surveys showed that NDA had an edge over Congress but still we formed the government," Singh said.

He informed that the Congress' process of selecting candidates for Goa is almost finalised and names of short-listed candidates would now be referred to the screening committee.

Digvijay said Congress "lacked" in marketing unlike other parties.

"However, it has launched an aggressive campaign to highlight the achievements of UPA government," Singh added.
