The BSES discoms will observe Earth Hour to save energy on March 24.
The BSES Yamuna Power Limited and the BSES Rajdhani Power Limited (BYPL) have appealed to their 4 million consumers to switch off all electrical appliances during the Earth hour starting from 8.30 pm on March 24 for an hour.
"BSES is actively and whole heartedly supporting and promoting the Earth Hour initiative. The discom and its consumers are once again gearing up for the challenge to take the Earth Hour event to greater heights," a spokesperson of the discom said.
The BRPL and the BYPL would also switch off all non-essential lights at their over 400 offices, spread across an area of around 950 sq km, during the appointed hour (8:30 pm to 9:30 pm) on March 24, he said.
Last year, Delhi had saved around 290 MW of power, including 207 MW in BSES areas.
