There was discord within ruling Trinamool Congress over the election of sahakari sabadhipati (assistant chief) of Malda zilla parishad today and one of its leaders resigned in protest against not being considered for the post.
Gour Chandra Mondal, the party's official candidate was elected the sahakari sabhadhipati (assistant chief) during the day after he bagged 24 out of the total 34 votes polled and won by a margin of 10 votes, according to additional executive officer of Malda zilla parishad.
Ujjal Choudhury another TMC leader and a member of Malda zilla parishad resigned from the party and the body for during the day for not being considered for the post, TMC sources said.

Two zilla parishad members did not come for the vote.
