Press Trust of India New Delhi
Direct-to-home (DTH) service provider Dish TV India on Thursday reported a 24.60% decline in consolidated net profit at Rs 40.87 crore for the first quarter ended June 30, 2016.

The company had registered a standalone net profit of Rs 54.21 crore for the April-June quarter of the previous financial year.

Net sales went up by 5.85% to Rs 777.59 crore during the period as against Rs 734.56 crore in the same quarter a year earlier, the company said in a BSE filing.

"Buoyed by digitisation, notwithstanding the relative seasonal weakness in first quarter, the industry collectively added around 15% higher subscribers compared to the same quarter last financial year. Dish TV maintained its lead in incremental subscriber additions during the quarter," Dish TV Chairman and Managing Director Jawahar Goel said.

Dish TV's ARPU (average revenue per user) stood steady at Rs 174 per month during the first quarter, he added.

Dish TV added 4.02 lakh subscribers during the quarter ended June 30, 2016. It has a total subscriber base of 1.49 crore at the end of the period.

Shares of the company closed 0.43% up at Rs 93.90 on BSE.
