Actor Priyanshu Chatterjee said there is disparity between Bollywood and regional films as the Hindi movie industry has an upper hand when it comes to distribution.

"There is certainly an economic disparity between Bollywood and the regional film industry. They (Bollywood) have the upper hand in terms of distribution," Priyanshu told PTI on the sidelines of the announcement press meet of his new Bengali film "Oscar".

The actor said there are many good films that are being made in the Bengali movie industry.

"The Mumbai film industry has definitely a bigger reach. But considering the rich content of work in many Bengali films, even by new directors, there has to be a better financially backed distribution model for films here."

Priyanshu said he wants to promote Bengali cinema and is always enthusiastic to work with new directors if he finds a script interesting.

"From Goutam Ghosh's 'Shunyo Awnko', 'Moner Manush', 'Sankhachil' (cameo) to Prabhat Roy's 'Bhorer Alo' and now 'Oscar', I have always looked for complex and entertaining scripts. I believe the industry here and also Bollywood should support good writers," he said.
