Disproportionate assets case against Vasai-Virar civic

Palghar unit of Anti-Corruption Bureau has registered a case against a senior official of the Vasai Virar Municipal Corporation and his wife for possessing disproportionate assets.

Jitendra Bhimrao Choudhary, assistant municipal commissioner, was found to have amassed assets worth Rs 50.87 lakh, 60 percent more than his official source of income, during 1992 to 2014.

His wife Kiran Choudhary was also booked for abetment, said Deputy Superintendent of Police Ajay Aphale.

No arrest has been made yet.

A case under the Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered at Tulinj police station in Palghar district and further probe is on.
