Assistant General Manager of Industry Department of the state government, S K Sharma, has submitted a formal complaint to District Magistrate Navdeep Rinua, stating that 4,000 sq yards land owned by the department in Khurja town, about 20 km from here, was grabbed by a group of people.

The market value of the land, situated along G T Road at the town, is estimated at Rs 15 crore, Sharma said.

He said in his complaint that land was acquired by the government in 1962 for establishing industrial hub. This 4000 sq yards, which was lying vacant, had been earmarked for raising a park, he said.

He claimed that the group of people had cunningly obtained a certificate from ADM (Finance) that the land does not belong to UPSIDC, which paved the way for their obtaining an NOC from SDM Khurja to grab the land.

They also got a sale deed executed in their favour as, in 1962, no compensation was paid by the government for acquiring land for public purpose, he said.

On the basis of the complaint, the district magistrate has has referred the matter to SDM Khurja for enquiry and ordered stopping of further construction at the site, he said.
