A 29-year-old woman allegedly killed her two children and then committed suicide at her residence here, police said today.
The woman was identified as Shital Nodanvadra, resident of Govardhan Chown area. She took the step yesterday after killing her daughter and son as she was distressed with the loss of her husband, Malaviyanagar police station inspector M R Godhaniya said.
Primary investigation revealed that Shital first drowned her daughter Kenisha (9) and son Jeel (4) in an underground water tank at her house and then hanged herself from a ceiling fan, the officer said.
Neighbours informed the police about the incident after which they reached the spot and also recovered a suicide note in the room where Shital hanged herself.
"She wrote in the note that she killed her two children and committed suicide as she was unable to bear the loss of her husband Bipin, who died couple of month back in a road accident," Godhaniya said.
She also mentioned in the suicide note that she had killed her children by sinking them inside the water tank.
The two bodies have been fished out and further investigations have started, he added.
