Distressed Raipur woman admitted in SCB hospital

The police have rescued a woman, stated to be from Chhattisgarh, from Cuttack railway station last night and admitted her to SCB medical college and hospital here today.

The police sent a wireless message to their counterparts in Chhattisgarh as the woman, aged around 25 years, has claimed that she is from Gudiali village of Raipur.

"The woman was not cooperating with us to conduct a medical examination on her on the day," said Mahila police station inspector Sujata Jena adding it was not clear whether the girl was raped as reported in a section of the media.

Police said the woman was incoherent in her statements about her place of stay and the agony she has undergone.
 

"The girl claimed she arrived in Cuttack city yesterday morning by train and denied anyone misbehaved with her at the railway station or anywhere in the city," Jena said adding the woman claimed that she travelled by train to Howrah and also went to Vishakapatnam in Andhra Pradesh.

Except some old injuries on her feet, no other external injuries were found in her body, Jena said stating that she might have walked barefoot a lot.

According to reports, the girl was first traced in Buxibazaar area of the city last night walking in acute pain and sufferings.

Informed by locals, Mahila police of the city rescued her.
