District Agriculture Officer arrested on graft charge

The Vigilance department today arrested the District Agriculture Officer (DAO) Prem Shankar Ram on graft charge for taking Rs. One lakh in bribe in Bihar's Buxar district, an official release said.

Acting on a complainant filed by one Dinesh Singh, a native of Raghunathpur village under Brahmpur police station area, a Vigilance Investigation Bureau (VIB) team headed by the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Ambrish Kumar Singh laid a trap and arrested Ram from his rented accomodation in Sitaram Nagar locality as soon as he took Rs. One lakh in bribe from the complainant, the release said.

The tainted DAO had demanded the said hefty amount in bribe from Singh in lieu of release of subsidy amount against bills under the Community Nursery development Scheme and related schemes for farmers, it said.
 

Ram was being brought to Patna for interrogation before his production before a designated vigilance court for judicial remand, the release added.
