District authorities have directed a private sugar mill to pay dues of more than Rs 100 crore to farmers after they complained that their dues were not cleared for more than a year.
According to the order by District Magistrate S V S Rangarao, the sugar mill will have to pay Rs 1.5 crore per month to the farmers.
The DM has also ordered that the owner of the mill cannot leave the district without permission and until the dues are cleared.
"The farmers were handed over vouchers for payment for that last one year, but no money was paid to them," said Ved Pal Malik, a representative of the farmers.
