District Collector Sunil Kendrekar today resumed charge of Beed after government rejected demands of some NCP leaders to transfer him on the ground that he had not performed his duties properly.
Kendrekar signed his 'Charge Transfer Certificate' (CTC) at Aurangabad yesterday and took charge as Beed's collector, reaching the city with his wife at 12.45 PM today.
Earlier, ministers of the Sharad Pawar-led Nationalist Congress Party from Maharashtra, including the state Public Works Minister Jaydutt Kshirsagar, had raised a demand to transfer him.
NCP spokesperson Nawab Malik had alleged that Kendrekar had not performed his duties properly.
"Compared to Beed district, Ahmednagar is not that affected with drought, but has more water tankers and fodder camps than Beed. This is because Kendrekar has given a wrong report in this regard," he had alleged.

Kendrekar had handed over his charge to Beed's Additional District Collector Shivanand Taksale before going to the Netherlands on a government training programme.
A Beed collectorate official was sent to Aurangabad to take Collector Kendrekar's signature on the CTC yesterday as he was ill, sources said.
