District Excise officer suspended after 8 die due to spurious

The Uttar Pradesh Government today suspended district excise officer (DEO) and three head excise constables following the death of eight persons due to spurious liquor in Amethi.

Taking serious note of the deaths due to spurious liquor, Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav suspended DEO Amethi Rajkumar and ordered an inquiry against him, official sources said here.

Three head excise constables were also suspended.

In Amethi from May 6 to 8, five persons died after consuming spurious liquor in Shukul bazar, two in Amethi area and one in Sangrampur.
