Divij, Purav qualify for Soweto Open singles main draw

India's doubles specialists Divij Sharan and Purav Raja have made the men's singles main draw of the ATP Soweto Open after winning their respective final qualifying rounds, here.

Left-handed Divij overcame a second-set lapse to beat local player Ruben Alberts 6-2 3-6 6-1 in the third and final round of the qualifiers.

The Delhi lad however has a tough first round ahead as he faces third seed Canadian Vasek Pospisil.

Purav Raja also shattered local hopes as he beat Phillip De Bruyn 6-1 7-5 in his third round.

He faces Jean Anderson of South Africa in his first round of the USD 100,000 hard court tournament.
 

In the doubles draw, Divij and Purav have been seeded second and they will open their campaign against local team of Jean Anderson and Ruan Roelofse.
