The 'Shake It Daddy Mix' hitmaker, who gave a new lease of life to the club music with his alternative version of old Bollywood numbers, has also incorporated two brand new Punjabi numbers from his newly formed band Indian House Mafia with DJ Suketu and Sukhbir Singh.

"My album 'Forever 2' is basically a remix of hit numbers of 70s and 80s. It's a special album for me as it's my first album in 3 years. I have always worked with the songs of that era because I feel they were the most beautiful numbers. I generally release an album after two years but this one took time because I was busy with my night club," Aqeel told PTI.

Aqeel has used singers Babul Supriyo and Vaishali Samant for the album, produced by Universal music.

When the clubs are dominated by the electronic and trans music, DJ Aqeel feels that remixes are back on the scene.

"Remixes were not played in the night clubs two years ago but they are coming back again. Bollywood music is something which has always dominated the club music in India. There are very few musicians who do remixes and that is why they were losing its sheen," he added.

After being in the industry for two decades, Aqeel says the scenario of club music is changing with the increase in number of international DJs visiting the country.

"It's an amazing move. With this kind of exchange of music, we are getting a global experience. People have become more aware about the other genres of music," he said.

The musician is currently busy with a track for actress Ameesha Patel's debut home production.
