DJB carrying out major infra expansion in water, sewer lines

DJB is carrying out major infrastructural expansion of its existing water and sewer lines to bring many more new colonies under its network.

"49 new colonies have been notified for water supply services in last 4 months after extension of water supply network and water and sewer development charges in these colonies have already been reduced by 80 per cent through a government notification", a senior offical of Delhi Jal Board said.

These colonies include Zind Pur Extension, Jagjeevan Ram Colony (Harizan Basti) Bhorgarh Extension, Shyam Kunj Tikri Khurd in Narela, Pratap Nagar and Diwan Complex in East Delhi, Hindi Vihar, Gauri Shankar Enclave-II.
 

New Shanti Mohalla Extension, Seelampur, Transit Camp Khichripur, Ganesh Nagar Pandav Nagar Complex, Shahdara, Rani Garden, Kondli, Kardapuri, among others have been notified after extension of sewer facility in these areas.

Several other colonies in south Delhi and east Delhi are also being notified for water services.

A concessional rate of water and sewer development charges of Rs 100 per sqm has been notified for residents of such colonies, the official said.

Charges for regularisation of unauthorised connections have also been brought down from Rs 18,000 to Rs 3,300, for residents of these colonies, the official said.
