DJB defers decision on increasing water tariff by 10 pc

The Delhi Jal Board (DJB) today deferred a decision on increasing water tariff by 10 per cent. which was to come into effect from January 1, 2015.

A top DJB official said a decision to implement the annual increase in water tariff will be taken in the next meeting of the Board.

"A decision to defer the hike till the next Board Meeting was taken at today's Board Meeting," the official said.

At the 119th Board Meeting held today, a number of important projects were discussed and approved including laying of sewer lines in unauthorised colonies under Dwarka Constituency at an estimated cost of Rs 58.92 crore.
 

The Board also decided to purchase Poly Aluminium Chloride to ensure the quality of drinking water at its water treatment plants.

"The Board accorded administrative approval for purchase of a quantity of 15,000 MT of Poly Aluminium Chloride (PAC) at an estimated total cost of Rs 17.28 crore," according to a DJB release.
