Largest realty firm DLF has contributed Rs 1 crore to the Prime Minister's relief fund and another Rs 1 crore to Haryana Chief Minister's relief fund for welfare of the farmers affected by the unseasonal rains and hailstorms.

"DLF, in furtherance of its commitment towards national causes, has contributed Rs 1 crore to Prime Minister's Relief Fund and Rs 1 crore to Haryana Chief Minister's Relief Fund on Wednesday April 29, 2015," the developer said in a statement.

The company said that the contribution is specifically to support the government efforts in providing relief to the farmers, who have witnessed significant adversities due to unfavourable weather conditions.

The contributory cheques were handed over to Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal for the CM Relief Fund and to Union Coal and Power Minister Piyush Goyal for the PM Relief Fund.

About 100 lakh hectares of rabi crop have been affected in various states due to unseasonal rains since February-end, causing distress to farmers.
