DMDK MLA AKT Raja, released on bail on September 24 after his arrest over land-grabbing charges filed by his mother, today filed an anticipatory bail plea along with four others in another case filed by police.

The Madras High Court bench adjourned their bail pleas till Monday and directed police against arresting them till then.

The petitioners, Raja, PM Mohan, M Kamatchi Raja, K Virumandi and V Ramesh, said they apprehended arrest on a complaint registered by police against them under IPC Sections 147 (rioting), 341 (wrongful restraint), 353 (assault or use of criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty) and 188 (disobedience of an order duly promulgated by a public servant).

The petitioners said police had registered the complaint on September 23 stating that five persons had entered the office of the SP and tried to prevent him from arresting Raja in the land-grab case.

The petitioners contended that the complaint was false and submitted that they would not abscond.
