The DMDK State Youth wing secretary Jayakumar today surrendered before a Judicial Magistrate court in connection with a case relating to hurling of a petrol bomb at a government bus here.

Police said two unidentified persons hurled the bomb at the bus last night during an anti-liqour protest. The footboard of the bus had caught fire but the conductor managed to douse it immediately and lodged a complaint with police.

Police registered a case after questioning local people and were looking for Jayakumar and another person in connection with the case. Jayakumar surrendered before the Judicial Magistrate II court.

Meanwhile, city advocates today took out a motorcycle procession and held demonstrations in front of three TASMAC (state-run liquor outlets) shops at Othakadai and Thiruvathavur demanding their closure.

Police advised the employees of the outlets to down shutters after which the protesters dispersed.

Meanwhile members of the 'Vivasaya Viduthalai Munnani' hurled cow and buffalo dung at a TASMAC shop.

Police dispersed the protesters.
