Election Commission officials are investigating a complaint by DMK that a few workers belonging to AIADMK today opened a bus shelter at Marichettipati on the city outskirts, as part of the 68th birthday celebrations of their party chief J Jayalalithaa, police said.

DMK workers registered the complaint with the Election officer alleging that the activists had launched the shelter, with the name 'Amma', on top, besides the words "opened in connection with 68th celebrations", which amounted to violation of election code of conduct, police said.

The department is investigating the matter, they said.

Tamil Nadu is to have single phase polling on May 16.
