Former union minister M K Alagiri may have been suspended from the DMK, but the party's candidate in the Madurai Lok Sabha seat held by him says he will seek the support of the southern satrap.

V K Velusamy, who began his campaign here today, said he would seek the help of all the DMK people, including Alagiri, suspended recently for anti-party activities.

He assured that he would bring more development projects for the city.

"I will seek votes for the DMK on the basis of the welfare schemes implemented during the DMK regime," he said.

Sending a strong signal that rebellion would be quelled with an iron hand, DMK supremo M Karunanidhi denied ticket to his son Alagiri while announcing the list of 35 candidates.
