Opposition DMK today hit out at Chief Minister N.Rangasamy for making 'false claims' that educational opportunities were excellent in Puducherry.

DMK's Puducherry state unit convener M.A.S.Subramanian claimed in a release here that working of classes were hit following vacancies in the posts of teachers and heads in government schools.

"How can the Chief Minister claim that Puducherry offers full opportunities for educational progress of the students," he asked.

Subramanian alleged that there were several discrepancies in the pay structure of the teachers in government schools. Students were also on frequent agitations demanding filling of posts of teachers. Chief Minister had promised that students would be provided free laptops during assembly polls in 2011.

Nothing had been done to fulfil this promise, he charged. But when assembly polls were now just a year away, Rangasamy has now been making claims that laptops would be available to students, he said.
