Hitting back at PMK leader Anbumani Ramadoss for his criticism of DMK over a range of issues, including corruption, the latter today reminded him that it was instrumental in him getting a Rajya Sabha seat and referred to a CBI case against the former Minister.

Joint Secretary of DMK Rules and Regulations Committee and former MP R Thamaraiselvan posed a series of questions to the PMK leader, including the promise made by party founder S Ramadoss that his family members would not hold any positions.

He reminded Ramadoss that his father had assured the Vanniyar community, whose interests the party claims to represent, that he or his children will not contest Assembly polls or Parliamentary elections and charged them with 'fooling' the community since Anbumani himself went on to become a Union Minister.

However, DMK chief M Karunanidhi had done a lot for the community, including providing reservation for them, for which Ramadoss himself had praised him, Thamaraiselvan said in a statement released by the DMK Headquarters.

"It was Kalaignar (Karunanidhi) who helped Anbumani Ramadoss get a Rajya Sabha seat and become Union Health Minister (in UPA-I). Before criticising DMK, he should think about this," he said.

Taking on the younger Ramadoss for criticising DMK on corruption issue by raking up the 2G Spectrum allocation scam, Thamaraiselvan referred to a CBI case against Anbumani himself, regarding granting permission to a start a medical college in Indore in Madhya Pradesh.

"It is amazing that he talks of ending corruption," he said.

Thamaraiselvan, a former MP from Dharmapuri, which is now represented by Anbumani Ramadoss, also ridiculed PMK for repeated alliance-hopping and sought to know what he had done for Tamil Nadu as a Minister and MP.

However, the DMK had delivered a lot in various sectors, including infrastructure and drinking water requirements, he said.

Taking a dig at PMK's stand on implementing prohibition and Ramadoss' criticism that DMK did not implement it despite repeated pleas from his party, Thamaraiselvan asked what steps he had taken as a Minister to address the issue.

In response to an open letter written by DMK Treasurer M K Stalin to Chief Minister O Panneerselvam on many issues, Anbumani Ramadoss had written to the DMK scion on Tuesday, saying his party was equally responsible for leaving Tamil Nadu in a 'mess' and blamed it for bringing disrepute to the country with the 2G scam.
