DMK top leader M K Stalin today called on leaders of rival parties including the Congress and BJP and extended invitation for the marriage of his brother's son.

DMK chief Karunanidhi's youngest grandson Arulnithi's marriage will be held here next month.

The groom is the son of M K Tamilarasu, younger brother of DMK Treasurer Stalin (RPT) younger brother of DMK Treasurer Stalin.

Stalin called on Tamil Nadu Congress Committee President EVKS Elangovan, BJP State unit president Tamilisai Soundararajan, Tamil Maanila Congress chief GK Vaasan and Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi chief Thol Thirumavalavan.

The gesture assumes significance as such invitations to rivals are not very common in Tamil Nadu.

Last September, PMK chief Ramadoss had invited DMK president Karunanidhi, MDMK chief Vaiko besides other leaders for the wedding of his grand daughter and the function saw rival parties top brass together.

Later speaking to reporters, Elangovan ruled out any political significance to Stalin calling on him and said "he (Stalin) came to invite me for the marriage."

Stalin also called on Tamil Super Star Rajinikanth and Editor of Tamil Magazine and political commentator Cho S Ramasamy to invite them for the marriage.
